Small and unique Boutique Lodge Feeling at the Bay of Islands

The Huntaway Lodge caters five rooms, in which we can host up to 10 people – three contemporary rooms and the “Upper House” with two rooms, which can individually be connected to one lodge. All our rooms open up to large decks, from which you have a breathtaking view of the coastline. Can you imagine anything better than sitting in the morning sun out on the deck and looking over white beaches and gazing at the blue ocean while having fresh fruit and poached eggs on toast for breakfast? Or sitting outside at night having dinner, a glass of white wine, and watching the stars on the NZ night sky?

Switch off from everyday life

If you don’t want to hang out at the lodge all day, go for a stroll around our magical gardens, which we had designed by Northland’s best-known landscape gardener Jonathan Fulton, and dive into the colourful mixture of native and exotic plants and basalt boulders from the area.

Discover the Bay of Islands

If you want to explore the nearby bay area, make sure you stop at the local shops to get a coffee – or two – and a piece of lemon tarte. The locals are always up for a casual chat with visitors from around the world, so we recommend you get in touch with them, ask for insider visiting tips in the area and stories about our NZ history. Don’t stay out for too long though and don’t miss the outdoor candle-light dinner under the starry dark-blue night sky we told you about before!
